GRANTS

Community Grants Programme 2025-2028

We are excited to launch our grants programme for charitable/community organisations.

We are looking to support projects that provide facilities or services that relieve those in need, hardship or distress in the ancient parish of Yardley, South East Birmingham.

We are only able to award grants of up to £5,000.

Applications must help us achieve our three priorities, which are:

  • Providing homes: We will support projects that increase the provision of quality, affordable housing in and for the people of South East Birmingham
  • Creating communities: We will support projects that contribute to the creation of a thriving community in South East Birmingham.
  • Generating opportunities: We will support projects that provide opportunities for people of all ages to achieve their potential

Information required from applicants

Organisations/Projects applying for assistance will be required to provide the following information in writing for consideration by the Trustees:

  • The aim(s) of the project
  • The client group(s) and number of anticipated clients
  • A ‘business plan’ or statement of anticipated progress for at least the next year, preferably three years
  • A set of accounts for the last three years (12 months for new groups)
  • Revenue estimates for at least the next year, preferably three years
  • A statement relating to other possible sources of financial assistance and the outcome of any other grant applications

Decision-making process

Applications will be considered by Trustees during May and August.

In deciding whether or not to award a grant to a project, Trustees may consider:

  • The possible benefit to the community
  • The support enjoyed by the project from the community
  • The number and likely income of people who might benefit from the project and the proportion of such people who live within the Trust’s area of benefit
  • Other (possible) sources of funding
  • The likelihood of (continued) success
  • Other factors which the Trustees, at their sole discretion, consider to be relevant

Trustees will not usually make grants to general funding appeals from national or regional charities.

Grant awards will be subject to such terms and conditions as the trustees think fit.

The Trust will maintain a procedure guide for referral agencies to ensure that applications can be referred to the Trust as quickly as possible. The Trust’s grant making will be publicised widely, in particular to black and minority ethnic groups.

Grants for individuals and families

We pay grants for essential items such as ovens, fires, washing machines and refrigerators, but we do not accept direct applications. Referral agents such as Neighbourhood Offices and CAB offices arrange for applications to be made to the Trust.

Contact the one nearest to you and ask them to make a referral to the Trust. They will complete an application form on your behalf.
